Japanese Teriyaki Restaurants Locations in San Jose CA

happi house

To make fast food fresher and better, Happi House set out to cook all meals to order and offer them at a family-friendly price. They named the restaurant “Happi House” after the traditional Japanese garment, the Happi Coat, which is a lightweight cotton jacket worn during festivals and celebrations. Happi Coats are a symbol of happiness and festivites; Happi House adopted them as part of our name because we believe dining out should be fun and festive too. On a side note, Happi Coats originally sewn by a family member, became Happi House’s first uniform and were worn by all staff for many years. Monday to Friday, this warehouse-style restaurant in Hollywood with a bumpin’ soundtrack has a happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. Think $10 slushies, $10 Aperol spritzes, and $12 draft Negroni with $6 pizza slices and marinated olives to help soak up the booze.

Great Happy Hour Deals In LA

And know the sweet pea salad and white pizza are both ideal for washing down all those post-work drinks. There are tons of queer spaces in Weho where you can get a cheap drink around 5pm, but our favorite of the bunch is Stache. The restaurant/bar/performance space has fun programming throughout the week, including bearded lady cabarets, Drag Race viewing parties, and nightly DJs. If you’re looking for a weeknight patio party, drop by for Taco Tuesday and share a margarita pitcher while Dua Lipa blasts in the background.

Househappy Plus accounts enjoy additional benefits, including Home Concierge Visits, live concierge assistance on job requests, increased storage capacity, and the ability to manage multiple properties. Receive customized home service reminders and exclusive deals to help save you time, money and worry. Weho is the LA capital of after-work drinks - and Happy Hour deals. Here are 40 places guaranteed to boost your booze budget.

Madre West Hollywood

Located at the very top of the Freehand Hotel in Downtown LA, this is one of the few downtown spots with unobstructed views of the city skyline. Weekdays are pretty tame, but on weekends, prepare to see hoards of people posing in front of the pool and enough animal floaties to populate Noah’s Ark. Red Lion’s Bavarian theme isn’t exactly what you’d call subtle, but it’s the right kind of environment for casual bar hangs with old and new friends. This Silver Lake beer garden is a great place to sit outside, drink from a stein, and snack on a sausage platter. If the patio gets too crowded, head inside to the dark downstairs lounge and watch a regular croon at the piano for a few hours. With locations in Torrance, Culver City, West Hollywood, and Santa Clartias, you’re never too far from Madre.

The Best Happy Hours In Santa Monica

Today demand for healthier and more unique alternatives to typical fast-food options is exploding across all regions of the U.S. And Happi House is underway with expansion plans to serve this growing market. During the 1980s and 1990s the chain expanded by franchising and building several company-owned units throughout the Bay Area.

Esters Wine Shop & Bar

The specials include $12 cocktails named after email lingo like Per My Last Email (a sweet-spicy mule), EOD (a zero-proof margarita), and Circling Back (Tom Collins). The Just Checking In is just an old fashioned, something that helps answer that dreaded office phrase. Maple Block is an excellent barbecue restaurant in Culver City known for its brisket, spare ribs, smoked pork belly, and a pimento cheese sandwich we’d gladly drive across town in bumper-to-bumper traffic to eat. But the bar is also a great place to drink a beer and try some of the best chicken on the Westside—these hefty, smoky wings will help you realize that most versions at Happy Hour spots across LA don’t have any meat on them at all. This under-the-radar wine bar isn't the first thing that comes to mind for post-work drinks in Echo Park, but that's the reason we love it. The dark, narrow space is so stripped-down it looks like it's under construction, yet somehow the mood is always right.

So if you want to eat tapas and drink sangria in a place that feels a bit like Tinkerbell’s living room, you've found it. Electric Owl is one of the cooler spots on Sunset—it’s mostly outdoors, and it feels like a vintage train station where drinking is heavily encouraged. Come specifically to drink cocktails (their spicy mezcal is a real standout).

Tabula Rasa in Thai Town is really just a stripped-down place to drink beer, sake, and wine on a Tuesday. That said, the tiny space is still warm and welcoming, and aside from live jazz nights on the last Sunday of the month, the place usually stays quiet. They have a huge wine list, and a good Cubano in case you get hungry. Picture well-dressed people drinking boulevardiers and discussing experimental theater.

With the weather warming up and the sun finally shining after a very rainy, cold winter (that doesn’t seem to go away some days), the time is now for post-work drinks and light bites. The city’s many vaunted happy hours offer discount options for all, featuring house cocktails, easy wines by the glass, and craft beer. Because this is Los Angeles, there’s also no shortage of tasty food.

ERB is one of those almost-mythical places that gets everything right. This Arts District spot makes good cocktails and bar food that’ll change the way you think about bar food—we're mostly talking about their burger. Hang out in their backyard with friends for an ideal Friday night. We feel confident saying everyone in your group will like The Fat Dog. This massive outdoor space in the heart of the North Hollywood Arts District has a huge craft beer list, a bar food menu with Swedish meatballs, and a dog-friendly patio that fills up around 5pm. If you’re looking for a place you can go with coworkers, castmates, or by yourself for a buffalo chicken wrap after work, The Fat Dog works especially well.

Steve Samson’s Pizza Happy Hour runs daily from 5 to 6 p.m. With a choice of either a pepperoni or margherita Superfine pizza and plus a drink for $25. Drink choices include spritzes, Negroni, martini, Manhattan, or mojito. There are also bites priced between $6 and $14, with $5 mocktails and $12 glasses of wine. This wine bar mini-chain (with locations in Silver Lake, West Adams, Glendale, and more neighborhoods across LA) has huge trees growing out of the middle of its Mid-City dining room with lights hanging from every branch.

Her passion for helping tomorrow’s chemists hone their talents runs deep. A frequent speaker, author, industry mentor and educator, Valerie is an active contributor in the Society of Cosmetic Chemists and was awarded the esteemed Chapter Merit Award in 2017 for her volunteer work and outstanding participation. Valerie writes a monthly column in HAPPI Magazine, Dear Valerie, and is the longtime co-host of the Beauty Brains podcast. Valerie proudly leads the Simply Formulas team from her lab in sunny Southern California.

No, you aren’t on the Lower East Side or Canal Saint-Martin, you’re at The Normandie Club, one of our favorite cocktail bars in Koreatown. It’s a great first stop before a big night out or for a weeknight 50/50 martini in a sexy little booth. La Cuevita (formerly known as Little Cave) is a dark Highland Park bar with skull heads lining the shelves and colorful papel picado hanging from the wooden beams above. If you'd rather be in the sunshine drinking margaritas, though, head outside to their back patio. There are a few tiny nooks for your group to take over and free tacos on Tuesdays between 9-11pm. You can sip a mai tai next to a small waterfall and bamboo walls, but you can also drink a beer and play pool.

This kitschy, Hawaiian-themed restaurant on PCH is a quintessential hang in Malibu. Come by any day of the week and you’ll find a bunch of locals taking up residence at the bar overlooking the Pacific. In fact, you'll want to join them, because that's the only section of the restaurant where you can do Happy Hour. Happi House Franchise Corporation was created in 2008 and is now actively engaged in franchising after re-developing and modernizing several key aspects of the brand, including menu and service systems, marketing, and store design. Peet's Coffee on El Camino and Castro closed during the pandemic. I never visited it as the parking situation looked complicated.

Come for live music on the parking lot patio that feels like a laid-back luau for Long Beach locals. 21 spots with great patios and even better nightly specials. Plain and simple, Idle Hour is the best cocktail bar in the Valley right now. After three decades of decay, somebody who knew exactly what they were doing bought this 90-year-old icon and turned it into a complete destination bar. Great drinks, a patio with a giant bulldog statue, and the kind of laid-back crowd you simply can’t get on the other side of the hills. Broken Shaker's twinkly-lit poolside patio is exactly what you might picture when the words “Los Angeles rooftop bar” pop into your head.

Conrad-Caldwell House Museum National Trust for Historic Preservation

It's one of my favorite places to go in LA and especially beautiful at twlight. Architect Richard Neutra's private residence in Silver Lake seemed radical at the time, a glass house with rooftop and balcony gardens. Schindler came to California to work for Frank Lloyd Wright and supervise construction of the Hollyhock House. For a fascinating tour through his personal development as an architect, start there, then see his private home listed above, then tour Fitzpatrick-Leland to see the radical changes in his style over just a few-years period. After William’s death, his children sold the house in 1944, It was first used as a boarding house for female students and faculty for the University of Louisville.

There’s also a ye olde English-looking billiard room up here with doors to a shallow balcony. I think in times past it’s been used as a ballroom before Caldwell. Heading up the stairs, you can better see the huge stained-glass window (which opens!) and a large tapestry. It sounds like they are saving up funds to see if they can get the tapestry restored. Historical Marker #2426 in Louisville recognizes the Conrad-Caldwell House, a grand example of late Victorian architecture.

The house is located at the crest of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Mulholland Drive and is open for guided tours by reservation only. The house is owned by the MAK Center, which also runs the Schindler House and you'll find details about the tours at the MAK Center website. Enjoy a collection of fascinating, historic pieces of Los Angeles architecture that were built as private residences. This International style residence predates the mid-century modern styles that followed it, but it feels like it could have been part of the case study movement of the late 1940s and 1950s. You've seen this iconic mid-century house and its view countless times in films, advertisements, and magazines.

History

Referred to as “Conrad’s Castle,” the home at 1402 Saint James Court is known for its beautiful woodwork, parquet floors, stained glass windows and limestone exterior displaying gargoyles, massive archways and intricate architectural designs. Step back in time as you learn more about the era, the neighborhood, and the families who lived here. The museum’s interior is decorated in the Edwardian Age style, housing a massive collection of period items including many original pieces while showing-off the abundant lifestyles of the prominent businessmen and entrepreneurs who once lived in the neighborhood. The house is open for guided tours without appointment most Saturdays. After architect Rudolph Schindler came to California in the 1920s to oversee construction of Frank Lloyd Wright's Hollyhock House, he designed his residence in West Hollywood. Some say it was the first modern house to respond to California's unique climate, serving as the prototype for the distinctive California style that developed in the early twentieth century.

The original structure was designed and built by architect Richard Neutra with a no-interest loan from a Dutch philanthropist. This extravagant Romantic Revival construction incorporates a variety of architectural styles. The house has been restored to its Edwardian appearance of the Caldwell era. Downstairs is a parlor and a library/study flanking the front door.

In 1883, the Southern Exposition of Art, Industry, and Agriculture opened for a five year run on the 40 acre grounds that extended from Park Ave. to Hill St. and from 4th to 6th Sts. Ft. wood-framed main building was on the present site of St. James, Fountain, and Belgravia Courts. The marvel of the exposition was the largest ever display of electric lighting, 4600 Edison incandescent bulbs. It included quarters for the coachman, stables for horses and carriages, and later housed Mr. Caldwell’s finest automobiles. As the sun begins to fade, and the shadows grow longer, the staff of the Conrad-Caldwell House invite you to tour the home, guided only by the soft glow of lamps that illuminate the 10,000 sq. It sounds more like modern times than 1915, but Dr. Roy Lanterman was ahead of his time when he wanted to build a fireproof bungalow made of reinforced concrete.

In fact, when it was built, it was referred to as “Conrad’s Castle” by the neighborhood. The châteauesque-style Pink Palace at Saint James & Belgravia Cts., and the beaux arts-style mansion at Belgravia Ct. & 4th St., should not be missed on a walking tour of the neighborhood. Tours are available seasonally through the Old Louisville Neighborhood and Visitors Center in Central Park and from other guides. Despite its oversized fame, it's a modest-sized house, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and a 300-degree-plus view of the city of Los Angeles. Designed by Pierre Koenig in 1959 from a concept developed by the house's owner Buck Stahl, it's also called Case Study House #22. This house is in an area of the Silver Lake neighborhood called The Colony, where you'll find a number of Neutra designs on and around Neutra Place.

De La Rosa had just been shot dead by police officers in Bakersfield, the biggest city in this central California county, after crashing his car when they tried to pull him over. Now the 22-year-old oilfield worker lay on a gurney in the successor to the coroner’s office where Tom Joad’s granma awaited a pauper’s funeral in the 1939 novel. In the second decade of the 1900s the Club became increasingly concerned about drug abuse and juvenile justice. The club campaigned against drugs, worked with prisoners in the city stockade and women's jail, and campaigned against the exploitation of minors. The GFWC clubwomen were so effective that the New York Times commended them for their ability to work quietly behind the scenes in getting their men folk to bring about social reform such as ending the evil system of leasing convicts.

First, at the end of regulation, he made two pressurized free throws to give the Pacers a three-point lead. Then, as time wound down in overtime, he hit the biggest shot of his career to date. Officer Timothy Berchtold, for instance, shot and killed three people in the span of less than two months in 2010. Two of those he shot were unarmed and accused of a strikingly similar offence – reversing a car they were driving towards Berchtold.

Decades after the dustbowl, the local economy is still not strong. The jobs market in Bakersfield, long centred around the energy industry, has suffered from the sharp decline in oil prices. Unemployment now stands at 9.2%, significantly higher than California’s 6.3% average and the national 5.5%.

The Wimbish House is conveniently located in the heart of Midtown at the intersection of 14th and Peachtree streets. This venue is within walking distance of fine hotels, restaurants, nightclubs, shops, Piedmont Park, Woodruff Arts Center and the High Museum. Subsequent interviews conducted by Bakersfield police investigators suggest there was a lack of preparation and coordination among the police, who apparently had no plan for a confrontation. First, Wimbish was the most experienced officer to open fire during an operation to capture a fugitive one night in September 2013, which was bungled to deadly consequence in the parking lot of Bakersfield’s Four Points Sheraton hotel. Rick Wimbish, a Bakersfield native described by one person who worked with him as “a cop to his marrow”, is a department veteran of almost a quarter of a century. For several of those years, his father Mack, a retired state highway patrolman, was the sheriff of all Kern County.

the wimbish house

Many women continued to believe that the Atlanta Woman’s Club’s headquarters, Wimbish House, located in downtown Atlanta was dangerous and the membership grew smaller and older. Nonetheless, the Club continued to pursue its mission, including supporting Bicentennial events, raising money for a chapel at Tallulah Falls School, and working to save the historic Fox Theater from destruction. Thanks to its intricate detailing and massive stone masonry ornamentation, the venue makes for a timeless event space that is used frequently to host weddings and more.

About this venue

Holcombe and his chief dismissed that repeat involvement in shootings could raise concerns. “I don’t know what the chances are, this occurring to somebody,” said Williamson, but “we have other officers that have been in multiple shootings”. Jason Alderman’s family refuse to believe it, but police say he was trying to rob a closed Subway restaurant one Saturday evening in August. He was confronted abruptly by Bakersfield officers Wimbish and Garrett, both veterans of the deadly Ramirez sting operation. The pair was responding to an unrelated call-out when they spotted Alderman, according to police records.

Venue type

The marquee races include a pair of incumbent House members — Republican Neal Dunn and Democrat Al Lawson — facing off against each other in a north Florida district that leans GOP. Lawson’s majority-Black district was scrapped by the Legislature, which adopted a congressional map pushed by DeSantis, prompting a lawsuit alleging unconstitutional racial gerrymandering. But that’s little solace for voters worried about inflation, crime and abortion rights in this midterm election. Frost, a 25-year-old gun reform and social justice activist, ran in a heavily blue Orlando-area district being relinquished by Democratic Rep. Val Demings, who challenged Republican Sen. Marco Rubio this year.

Describe your venue:

Yet internal statistics show 74% of the roughly 390 sworn officers of Bakersfield police department are white, with only 21% Hispanic and less than 5% African American. Taken aback by officers pouring on to the scene, Harger drew a pistol. In an intense gun battle that ensued, Harger struck one officer and was blown away by police fire. The officers he was assisting shot him 10 times – three times in the chest, three times in his left leg, and once each in the face, buttocks, hip area and shoulder. Designed in the eclectic French Renaissance Revival, or Chateuesque, style, this lovely Victorian-era home is distinguished by steep gables, intricate detailing, and massive stone masonry ornamentation.

More From the Los Angeles Times

Chandeliers and original fireplaces have been fitted in almost every room, and the venue itself was actually added to the list of National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Designed in the eclectic French Renaissance Revival, or Chateau-esque, style, this lovely Victorian-era home is distinguished by steep gables, intricate detailing, and massive stone masonry ornamentation. Perhaps the only downside of Middleton's banked-in 3 to tie the game from the Bucks' perspective is that he made it with 6.7 seconds remaining, which gave the Pacers a lot of time to respond. Rick Carlisle took advantage by drawing up a play to get Haliburton the ball in the backcourt, which allowed his point guard to build up a head of steam towards the basket.

We are a house with a ballroom attached – there are a variety of possible seating options depending on how you are using the venue. A disturbing violent crime was at the heart of the third of four fatal shootings involving senior officer Wimbish. One Friday in March this year, Adrian Hernandez sexually assaulted a woman he was living with in south-west Bakersfield. According to police, he tied up her hands and tried to drown her in the bath, before dousing her and the house in a flammable liquid and setting a fire. But today’s generation of immigrants complain of hostility from a department that is unrepresentative of the people it polices. After rapid growth in Bakersfield’s population during the past decade to about 360,000, 46% of residents are Hispanic, 38% white, and 8% African American.

In the 1930s the speculation of the 1920s caught up with reality resulting in the Great Depression. Of course this created additional opportunities for philanthropy and social service, but the cost of club work and the members’ financial conditions were also of concern. The Atlanta Woman's Club members were thrifty and managed to continue to work on a wide variety of projects. AWC club women also continued to sponsor programs to educate themselves and the community about family finance as women became more responsible for supplementing for providing family income.

But there has been no eruption of unrest in Bakersfield over the actions of Wimbish or other officers involved in the killings of De La Rosa or Ramirez. Even as protests have rippled out from Ferguson, few out-of-town demonstrators have journeyed north from Los Angeles to show solidarity. Chief Williamson allowed three weeks to elapse before admitting that Ramirez had been working with the police. By then, the 32-year-old had been dismissed on the local TV news as merely the second man in a “suspect vehicle”. Even as he confirmed the true nature of Ramirez’s participation, Williamson blamed him for his own death. “He could easily have moved his hands above his head,” he told reporters.

The Club members presented both a play and vocal performance highlighting the history of the Club. They offered programs related to music, opera, writing, antiques, and art. Club members became interested in helping the mentally, physically and developmentally disabled. They promoted the early use of seat belts, and continued their focus on juveniles by advocating their release out of Georgia prisons. They supported the passage of the Fugitive Fathers bill, and pushed for the development of programs for rehabilitating prisoners. As always they continued to focus on to Talullah Falls School and supported a plan to modernize the school by adding a President's House, an athletic field, and modern classroom buildings.

Late last month Detective Damacio Diaz was indicted by a federal grand jury for accepting $15,000 in bribes from a methamphetamine dealer over the past three years and for stealing meth that he had seized through his police work. A year after Stringer’s crash, his colleague officer Scott Drewry was acquitted of throwing a rock through the window of a business linked to a family dispute while on duty.

Khris Middleton has had his fair share of clutch moments for the Bucks over the years, including a game-tying shot from the hashmark with 0.5 seconds left in the 2018 playoffs against the Boston Celtics. Late in regulation on Friday, he pulled off a repeat from nearly the exact same spot. Sgt Holcombe, who has lived in Bakersfield nearly his entire life and has never had to fire his service weapon, said that officers are not just “willy-nilly taking people’s lives”. Five days after the shooting, however, investigators working for Alderman’s family made a discovery. The police had quietly seized it from the Subway manager, who had been asked not to disclose what it showed.

It has two great pianos, is in the heart of midtown, and has an upscale feel without being too huge or intimidating. If Middleton's shot to force overtime wasn't crazy enough, he nearly forced another extra frame with an even more ridiculous shot. After Nesmith's 3-pointer in the corner, the Bucks called timeout and drew up a play for Middleton to come off a screen from Brook Lopez and catch the ball at the top of the key. Another fatal shooting this year, however, was more questionable. A nationwide Gallup survey last year found that among metropolitan areas, only California’s Fresno and Stockton-Lodi had a smaller proportion of residents than Bakersfield who said they “always feel safe and secure” in their city. Drug addiction – specifically methamphetamine – was cited repeatedly by police as the engine for the city’s crime problem.

In 2012, officer Albert Smith was jailed after not disputing charges of having sex with prostitutes, allegedly in his patrol car. In 2013, Detective Christopher Bowersox was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing images of violent sexual abuse of children. Scant local concern has been roused even as a string of BPD officers have been arrested in recent years.

Tickets that season cost a dollar for a reserved seat. In 1909, The Grand was briefly converted into a regular stop on the vaudeville circuit and then transitioned into a movie theater, eventually reduced to screening second-run horror films and Westerns. The building fell into decline and sadly closed its doors in 1967.

Before it was a movie theater, however, it hosted many operas, symphonies, burlesque shows, vaudeville, and minstrel shows. It reopened in 1971, partnering with classical institutions such as the First State Ballet Theatre and the Delaware Symphony Orchestra. The building was acquired by a non-profit arts organization in 1973, which has organized its shows and events ever since. In its first season of operation, the Grand presented more than seventy performances that included everything from serious dramas to minstrel shows to lectures and exhibitions.
